Pet Vaccinations


THE KITTEN PACKAGE
Your kitten’s best shot at a long and healthy life.
To give your new kitten the best start in life, we follow the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association.

The following outline will help you in providing for your kitten's needs.

8 weeks of age                                                                                                                                                                     

Physical Exam

First FVRCP (Upper Respiratory Infections)

Feline Leukemia Virus Test
Microscopic Fecal Exam
Start Heartworm Preventive.  Give once a month as long as your cat lives in the mountains.

12 weeks of age                                                                                                                                                                    

Second FVRCP
First FELV (Feline Leukemia Vaccination)

16 weeks of age                                                                                                                                                                        

Third FVRCP
Second FELV

Rabies vaccination

 6 months of age         

Spay (female) or Neuter (male) surgery
Repeat microscopic fecal exam

 Mature Cats:              

FVRCP vaccines are given at 1 year and then every three years for the life of your cat.
FELV is given at 1 year.  After one year, discuss with the doctor.
Rabies vaccinations are given annually.
Microscopic fecal exams are recommended annually for outdoor pets.



THE PUPPY PACKAGE

Your puppy’s best shot at a long and healthy life.
To give your new puppy the best start in life, we follow the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association.

The following outline will help you in providing for your puppy's needs.

8 weeks of age                       

Physical Exam
First DHPP (Distemper, Parvo, etc.) vaccination
Microscopic Fecal Exam
Start Heartworm Preventive; Give once a month as long as your dog lives in the mountains.

12 weeks of age   
      

Second DHPP (Distemper, Parvo, etc.) vaccination 
Bordetella (Canine Cough) vaccination
First CIV (Canine Influenza) vaccination

16 weeks of age         

Third DHPP (Distemper, Parvo, etc) vaccination
Second CIV (Canine Influenza) vaccination
Rabies vaccination

20 weeks of age         

Fourth DHPP ( Distemper, Parvo, ect) vaccination

6 months of age         

Spay (female) or Neuter (male) surgery
Repeat microscopic fecal exam

Mature Dogs:             

Canine DHPP and Rabies are repeated at about a year of age, and then every 3 years for the life of your dog.
Bordetella is recommended every 6 - 12 months, depending upon exposure status, for the life of your dog..
CIV is recommended every year for the life of your dog.

Annual microscopic fecal exams are recommended for all pets.
Every two years a heartworm test is recommended for all pets.


OTHER PETS

If you have questions regarding recommended regular vaccines and treatments for pets other than cats or dogs, please consult with our veterinarians.


OTHER PETS VACCINATIONS AND TREATMENTS

  • Flea and tick prevention medication is recommended if your pet is exposed to these parasites.
  • Lyme disease vaccination is recommended if your pet is exposed to ticks.
  • Rattlesnake vaccination may be recommended if your pet is at risk for rattlesnake bites.
